SkyQuestCom's Success Blog: Global Managers' Summit 2009

Wow! These people are hungry for success!

Besides living up to its reputation as “Asia’s Silicon Valley”, the city of Bangalore is blessed with an unmatched pool of talent.

From Miss World Ashwarya Rai to World #1 Snooker Player Pankaj Advani, the bustling IT state has produced a string of champions in nearly every area you can think of.

Perhaps that’s why it is befitting that Bangalore was chosen as the host venue of the Global Managers’ Summit, an intense 2-day training for SkyQuestCom’s very own champions!

We had an overwhelming turnout of 121 leaders and IDs from all over India!

Leaders and IDs from all over India converged at the Hotel Park Residency, whose walls bore witness to the powerful transformations that unfolded in those incredible 2 days.

Pumped up for success!

Through a series of games and activities, participants learnt skills in the areas of Leadership and Entrepreneurial Knowledge. More importantly, they were instilled with a set of principles that made them realise how important it is to step up to the next level and take charge of their own businesses.

As popularised by the movie The Secret, audiences around the world were taught how to create a Vision Board, a powerful tool that helped to attract success by using the power of visualisation and affirmations.

This is where dreams are being made.
Participants creating their Vision Boards.

In the “Dream Building” segment of the training, participants created their own Vision Boards by cutting out pictures depicting their goals and dreams they had to glue in the form of a collage on a board. Some participants put up colourful images of their perfect homes, while others proudly “showed off” their dream cars and so on. They were later encouraged to hang their completed boards in a strategic location in their rooms so they can see it every day. This simple exercise focuses their goals in front of their eyes and activates the Law of Attraction to begin manifesting dreams into reality. The participants were also urged to repeat positive self-affirmations everyday and write their goals at specific times when the subconscious mind is at its strongest - after waking up and before going to bed.

Showing off the completed Vision Boards!

In the “Company Vision” segment, the participants were grouped into teams in which they had to visualise their goals for SkyQuestCom as a company and draw those visions on big, vanguard sheets. Each team was later called upon to send a representative to the stage to share the visions. The goal of this exercise is to help the participants to re-visit their forgotten dreams and see the exciting opportunities and possibilities in store for the future.

The training ended with an incredible activity where everyone was given a stack of bricks that they were challenged to break in half. Originally developed as an ice-breaker game for building rapport, the “Brick-Breaking” activity has since been used by corporate coaches to motivate and train workforces. In the context of doing business, we’ve used the activity to inspire the participants to smash past the self-limiting beliefs and negative mindsets that may be standing in their way of success. Although the challenge may not go down in the records of the Guinness Book, it will certainly remain etched in their memories forever!

Smashing past self-limiting beliefs and negative mindsets!

Reflecting on the lessons learnt from the training, we’d like to share a quote from Anthony Robbins, who once said, “Results are not based on what you can do, but what you will do. If you're willing to do what it takes, you can succeed.”

So our REAL challenge to you now is, “Are you willing to take action to do it?”

We are all ready to soar to greater heights…are you?

SkyQuestCom's Success Blog: Lessons from Denis Waitley- Passion is the Secret to Success

What do the rich and famous have in common that we don’t have? Dr. Denis Waitley, bestselling author of “The Psychology of Winning” and “The Seeds of Greatness” shares the secret behind the successes of famous names such as Steven Spielberg, Walt Disney, and even William Shakespeare.

Dr. Denis Waitley is one of the most sought after speakers in the world. His program, "The Psychology of Winning", is the all-time, best-selling audio cassette program on personal and professional excellence.

He has consulted for many of the Fortune 500 top executives and multi-national corporations as well as small business owners and entrepreneurs.

His broad knowledge in self-development, high performance and personal success have helped Super bowl, Olympic Champions, NASA astronauts, the US Army (including returning P.O.Ws), foreign governments as well as educators and youth groups around the world.

Denis credits the phenomenal successes of these individuals and organisations to passion. He gives examples:

Ross Perot, Forbes’ 57th-richest person in America was his big brother at the Naval Academy who went on to become a billionaire with Electronic Data Systems, a global business and technology services company. He was always a man of passion. Ray Kroc was also passionate in what he believed in and founded MacDonald’s when he was 54; and never too late in doing so.

As he thinks back to the role passion plays, Denis recalls Steven Spielberg doing his little home movies, where his theme was always about a great powerful figure that is going to save the world. Andrew Lloyd Weber, as Denis remembers, wrote Cats, Evita and produced the Phantom of the Opera. When Weber was nine years old, he had a little home theater with puppets.

One memorable example was of Denis’ good friend, the late French underwater explorer Jacques Cousteau. Before his passing, Cousteau had told Denis that he broke both arms while watching a water spider taking a bubble of air down to her babies in a lake. In his passion for observing marine life, Cousteau invented the aqua lung after observing the bubble of air in that spider. The aqua lung allows humans to breath underwater for a short period of time.

Denis also mentions people like Bill Gates of Microsoft, Fred Smith of Federal Express and every great inventor or innovator. He explains that these people weren’t trying to make money; they had an inner fire of passion to drive them, rather than a desire for wealth. He believes that most successful people achieve their greatness because they have something to express inside.

He stresses it is not the idea of a pet rock to make a lot of money, but many of them earn a tremendous amount and respect. He quotes famous figures such as Shakespeare, Thomas Edison, Estee Lauder and Walt Disney who made a lot of money but far more than thinking about money when they were doing it. The key to their success was their passion. It was their inner drive to create or provide something excellent in a product or service.

Denis calls this the “Stradivarius Effect”, named after Antonio Stradivari, the famous violin maker. It simply means, “the love to live by, uncovering and discovering one’s passion”. And that, according to Denis, is the secret to people who make millions.

Have you ever wondered why some people seem to get everything they want? Denis Waitley will reveal more techniques you can use to develop powerful mindsets for creating your own success. Watch a video clip of his online seminar here http://www.skyquestcom.com/learning
